Official Gingerbread 2.3.3 HTC Desire not US Canada

HTC Desire finally getting official Gingerbread update now, in June 2011 HTC engineer announce that they will work to enable Android 2.3 upgrade in this smartphone although there is not enough memory and to resolve this they removed some unnecessary apps from the update file. According HTC developer website this software updates is designed for development only but not for public use, they also recommend you to get help by expert users or developers to do this.

HTC Desire Official Gingerbread 2.3 will not work in US and Canada

Before performing update you must understand that it will remove all data (contact, emails, installed apps, etc. except your files in SD card) and take off a few essential features. No options to upgrade via OTA, you have to manually update by downloading the file (ROM Upgrade Utility) from HTC Developer website, the file name is HTC_Desire_Android_2.3_Upgrade.zip and the file size is 161.32 MB. Sadly, not all country will get this update, some regional variants will not be works, if you’re in United States, Canada, South Korea Germany and Japan, this OS upgrades is not for you and if you force your smartphone to install it you will loose ability to send SMS and MMS. For listed regions it’s better to use moded version from XDA-Dev.
