A developers from xda-developers now working to port Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) SDK to Sprint Epic 4G Touch after a lot of members offering donations as a rewards for a devs who can make ROM for this Sprint’s android smartphone, the collected donations currently reached $647 and will probably increase over time. Thankfully, a dev with username PhantomHacker now taking the project, exactly the same dev who build custom ROM – StartBurst – for Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G.

Now this project give a good progress, they said that the ROM works great since it successfully boots and get 3G, Wi-Fi, screen rotation working. I’m sure this phone will get official ICS 4.0 upgrades from Sprint since this android smartphone is new released device and powered with high end hardware which meet minimum hardware requirements, but no word about the exact release date. For those who can’t wait until next year, you can take try a custom ROM based on SDK or wait until Google release ICS source code and try CM9 build from CyanogenMod Team.
