On their official Facebook page Archos, Inc. says that all Gen9 will get the official ICS updates in the near future, additionally they said that Android 4.0 will fix several bugs including a touchscreen issue in 101 G9. As we know that the Gen9 101 version has a bug in captivate touchscreen which is too sensitive, some users also find it hard to dragging an object on the screen.

Sadly, They still do not have plans to Provide updates for Gen8 android tablets, probably the strongest reason is the G8 doesn’t have enough memory to operate Ice Cream Sandwiches, and Froyo most likely the last official update given by them. If Archos ICS still did not deliver update to us, you still have hope to experience the ICS inside your multimedia tablet, since we have seen several users running Cyanogenmod (CM) 7 which based on Gingerbread, I believe CM9 which based Android 4.0 also will be ready to run on Archos G8. But for those who not familiar with installing a custom ROM you definitely need upgrade to Archos Gen9 tablet devices.
