Symantec Identifies 29 Malware Apps that have been Circulating in Google Play Store

With the growing popularity of Android-based phone, made developers competing to create applications for these OS, it could be seen from the number of new applications that appear on Google’s Play. But the lack of supervision of apps at Google Play triggered a lot of rogue developers who tried to smuggle malware in their application.

A leading antivirus company Symantec Corporation has identified 29 malicious applications that have been circulating in Google Play one of them called “The Movie” apps and this malware apps developed by 7 developers. This apps attempts to steal personal data (email addresses, phone numbers, etc.) from users who install it, the apps targeting android users in Japan and the estimated infected devices about 70,000. Hearing the report Google finally has removed the application from the Play Store.
